Matthew Patience has recently joined the Product team at MIS as a Client Solutions Analyst from leading international specialty (re)insurer, Chaucer Group, where he was a Senior Exposure Analyst. In this role, Matthew gained first-hand experience working with location-level exposure data, catastrophe models and event response. Matthew joined Chaucer as a graduate from the University of Oxford, where he studied for a Masters degree in Earth Sciences. During his studies, Matthew specialised in remote sensing, focusing on the use of aerial and satellite-based imagery to assess the effects of historical earthquakes.
As a Client Solutions Analyst, Matthew will work closely with Rosina Smith, Head of Product, to support the continued development of the MIS Global Events Observer (GEO) and support clients in their interpretation and application of MIS’ Intelligence Grid. Matthew will be responsible for designing and performing insight analysis on clients’ exposure and claims portfolios on a regular basis and will act as the voice of the client internally, supporting the Head of Product on the development of the Product Roadmap.
Matthew said: “MIS offers a unique opportunity to combine my interest in geospatial data and natural hazards with my knowledge and expertise gained from working in the Lloyd’s market. I am really excited to have joined a thriving insurtech, with a product that’s on the desk of every MGA in the market. Having previously worked with MIS as a client, I look forward to bringing a fresh perspective and new ideas for how we can best support our clients”
